'My Learner Journey'

Learning resources for professionals and university students

Developed by university academics

We work closely with university academics to develop a range of learner modules. Whether you need to polish up your infusion rate calculations, your dosage calculations or just refresh your unit conversions, our range of CPD modules will improve your clinical numeracy calculations.

Below is a selection of some of our learner journey CPD modules.
Each module provides introductory theory, a video to watch, examples and reflective tasks as well as an assessment.

Module 1: Drug Calculation Overview

Refresh existing skills across the broad spectrum of drug calculations and gain insight into common mistakes made when calculating drug doses

Module 2: Abbreviations, Units and Unit Conversions

Gain up-to-date knowledge of unit conversion and abbreviations used when dealing with medicines and medicine administration

Module 3: Calculating Dosage

Refresh day to day skills required when calculating doses. Update your skills on methodologies involved in calculating drug dosages and key numeracy skills required.

Module 4: Administering the Correct Dose

Gain a thorough understanding of the steps involved to calculate the correct dose and gain insight into the impact of calculating drug doses on patient safety

Module 5: Infusion Calculations

Refresh skills required to set up and administer intravenous medicine. Develop knowledge surrounding the various types of IV administration, including drip rate, infusion, injection

Module 6: Multiple Step Calculations

Gain insight into medication requiring multiple step calculations. Refresh knowledge of checks required to ensure each step has been accurately calculated

Module 7: Adult Liquid Dose Calculations

Develop knowledge around common mistakes made when administering liquid doses. Refresh skills on various routes to administer liquid doses.

Module 8: Paediatric Dosing Oral Medication

Develop knowledge around key differences when calculating paediatric drug doses. Update knowledge on specific numeracy methodologies required when calculating child doses

Module 9: Drip Rate Calculations

Working out drip rate calculations by minute and by hour can present a high margin for error. Working through our Drip Rate Calculation module will help you to identify the different numerical skills needed when calculating drip per minute and drip per hour.

Learner View

Snap has allowed us to save time on producing assessments on clinical numeracy, while still allowing the flexibility to add as many custom questions as we need. As such, our provision of medicines management assessment has become more comprehensive, with more formative assessment provided, and ultimately improved clinical competency for our students. The system is easy to navigate for admin users, and the support provided is very impressive. The team are always open to suggestions to change functionality or better suit our institution's needs. They are all very approachable and responsive to long-term planning.
